Social Forestry is a priority policy of Indonesia towards achieving national development. A total of 88.94 million hectares (ha) of forest in the country is home to 25,863 villages, with a population estimated at 37.2 million. Of these, 6.88 million consider themselves poor. Therefore, encouraging community empowerment through social forestry is seen as a vehicle to alleviate poverty and promote sustainable forest management.
