Polillo Islands in Quezon Province is one of the key biodiversity areas (KBA) identified as priority sites for conservation in the Philippines. It is home to globally important species including the Gray’s monitor lizard (Varanus olivaceus), the Philippine cockatoo (Cacatua haematuropygia), the Philippine warty pig (Sus philippensis), and the Philippine rusa (Hampson et al. 2000).
